Feedback on Maps:CommentX
09/01-brucefenster: Am I going crazy. Didn't we use to have sectionals? Maybe the topo maps changed or in someway look different. Still my go to page for a weather picture but something is different.
08/01-mgiacomet: Hmm... Logged in, fully refreshed the page but ads still showing on the top right corner (wish I could send you a screen shot)
07/08-avnwx.info: Regarding ads: once you've logged in, fully refresh the page is it should "remember" to not show ads to logged in users.
07/05-mgiacomet: Ads are back (on the upper right corner) blocking the map. Any chance of moving them to the top bar where there's plenty of unused space? Thanks
07/01-avnwx.info: Problem with your map background "over quota"? Switch to a Map Background other than "Terrain".
05/19-jimwmcvey: is there an option to add the mode C veil around class B airports? it is effectively the ADSB-out ring for class B also.
12/16-58dmtp: 3jc
10/05-jimwmcvey: of course as i report this, every single airport bumps up to correct time. no issue now..
10/05-jimwmcvey: airport weather conditions time is about 8 hours behind, showing 755 when its 355p
06/29-avnwx.info: no lightning in this version, but I'll keep it on the list.
06/29-rmflory: Would it be possible to add lightning strikes to the weather drop-down?
06/08-jimwmcvey: all good now. it corrected on its own about 20 mins later...
06/08-jimwmcvey: hi, the dropdown for 'get weather within' wont drop down. all i get is a shadow box with no options...
01/23-avnwx.info: For now (if you're logged in), just refresh the page -- that will remove the ads. I'll investigate why it still shows ads on initial viewing.
01/22-mgiacomet: Any chance of moving the Ads into the top banner where there is space, instead of covering the top right portion of the map? Thanks.
01/03-avnwx.info: Oops... thanks for noticing. We now show (lat, lon).
01/02-mgiacomet: When entering a flight path using lat/lon, would be nice if the input field kept the entered lat/lon. Currently, a route entered as "FIX_A-(lat,lon)-FIX_B", once the path is plotted, the input field showings FIX_A--FIX_B. Thanks.
09/14-jimwmcvey: hey again... after all this, just as i was about to give up, i tried using my mouse roller to resize the display area. the airports, airspaces, etc are back. i dont see the connection though....
09/14-jimwmcvey: hi, thanks. i tried refreshing when this startedf 2 days ago. i refreshed all again this morning. i use chrome and have for years now. this was perfect for several years up until now...
09/14-avnwx.info: dunno, jim: all is showing up for me. I suggest you do full refresh on your browser page & check if another browser works (chrome/firefox, etc.)
09/14-jimwmcvey: hi, no longer seeing airports, control areas, etc on my map. i am signed in, have those items chosen and am getting no errors.... jim
04/16-avnwx.info: I need to re-check for good (free) weather satellite images. I've also started looking at forecasted cloud tops.
04/16-zapotal: Any way to include a current weather satellite layer?
02/17-avnwx.info: Zoom out and you'll see the other half of your flight appears on the other side of the map. The break is at the international date line, which confuses the drawing routine. Yes, the distance is accurate.
02/16-zapotal: Why does the flight path from PANC to UHPP cut off in the middle of the Bering Sea? Is the distance between these two airports of 1,694 nm accurate?
11/15-avnwx.info: I'm getting metaf, taf and winds aloft for Springfield. Make sure you have those options checked under the "Weather" menu?
11/15-mwbleavins: I get no wx info from kspi, no metal, taf, or winds aloft info
10/19-willparkinson010: let’s go
06/23-demetr41: ETIK Epps
03/11-qewilliams19: howdy monfett. How are the wife and kids?
03/11-monfett6: DA BABY
01/17-jimwmcvey: hi, sent you an email a few hrs ago... jim
01/15-avnwx.info: Not sure what you're seeing, jim -- can you email me a screen shot? pbuck@avnwx.com
01/15-jimwmcvey: hi! i noticed that when the raw weather info is displayed, it often stretches much of the way across the top of the map, AKA CLE which today is nearly 75% of the way across. this overlays many smaller airport displays. can the raw weather info be wrapped to additional lines at a width not exceeding the other raw data displayed above it? thanks....
10/21-avnwx.info: I'm able to load Satellite, Hybrid and Topo -- only Street is failing for me: what part of the world are you trying to load?
10/21-rtf31406: Why won't other maps other than the Terrain map load? Any clues? Webmaster - help please.
08/10-avnwx.info: Indeed, nexrad images come from Iowa State, and they appear to be down (given recent returns, Iowa may have lost power?)
08/10-jimwmcvey: hi, nexrad info is not showing on the map. i tried going from base to composite, from stationary to animated. nothing shows....
07/23-avnwx.info: indeed, but the someone needs to tell the FAA! It's listed with a 'Y' in the official database.
07/23-dalton_mattson: Hey, K1YT is labeled incorrectly. I believe it is called Vagabond and not "Yagabond"
06/28-larry: Sna
06/25-avnwx.info: "Enroute forecast" was based off of the Aviation Area Forecast (FA), which was discontinued by NOAA. So you'll need to look at winds and fronts and TAFs... And, ask your briefer.
06/25-dallen1059: when will enroute forecasts come back?
04/11-mgiacomet: Ads are back, covering the top right of the map... (logging out/in, isn't resolving anymore). How about moving the Ads to the top banner (besides "Help")?... Thanks.
10/20-john_blanch: Thanks Pete.
10/19-avnwx.info: Okay, double click now selects the "correct" Australia.
10/16-avnwx.info: Thanks, john... Looks like it picks the "wrong" Australia: after you double click zone the map way out and you'll see one Australia with weather & the other without. Bug... I'll see what I can do.
10/16-john_blanch: Hi, weather for Australia and Japan not working when you double click on those countries (and possibly others). Thanks, John.
10/15-avnwx.info: Try logging out and logging back in, this seems to reset the ads display.
10/15-mgiacomet: Ads are back cluttering the map... What happened with the idea of placing ads on the top banner?
10/09-djshannon: Note: FYI - many NorCal airports are not reporting this morning due to widespread regional power outages (if anyone is wondering why many airports seem to be missing from the map)
09/24-avnwx.info: My software knows better than to misbehave while I'm watching... :)
09/24-mark.malinoski: Not sure what's going on, but now they are back...
09/24-avnwx.info: Just updated to latest Chrome (77.0) and I still have buttons. Anyone else?
09/24-mark.malinoski: FYI - Not sure if it's me, but lost zoom in(+)/zoom out(-) buttons today. Both Chrome and IE.
08/23-arrliv: Map Definition Especially on radar leaves much to be desired!
07/27-washav8tor: That's it. Thanks for your consideration, I look forward to the upgrades.
07/24-argoss1: KPOE kvps
06/23-avnwx.info: wash... You're imagining taking a flight path and then click-adding extra waypoints along the magenta path & dragging those waypoints to bend the path? Not unreasonable. Top on my list is improving display for smaller screens & the metar popups. Plus, I hope, to get rid of the light-grey boundary line.
06/23-washav8tor: Not really a weather issue, just for planning purposes. I have some sensitive air space in the Seattle area that needs some consideration with minimum deviation from the planed route.
06/23-washav8tor: I would love to be able to rubber band my flight plans on the App. Are there any thoughts about adding that in the future?
05/13-avnwx.info: dunno, tom -- I've got weather where I am. Where are you & what are you seeing / not seeing?
05/13-tom: I cannot get weather to load ?
05/10-avnwx.info: Rapid Refresh winds (part of "Full Weather Brief") is now working again. Enjoy.
05/06-jimwmcvey: better all the time. thank you!
05/06-avnwx.info: If you zoom in, the METAR spots remain the same size, the AIRPORT and NAVAID spots should get larger. See Example of KDEN. Also note Airport images reflect runway layout. Weather symbols remain same size (I'm working on that.)
05/06-jimwmcvey: thanks for the improvements. i am not seeing the airport and naviad symbols scaling at all as i shrink and enlarge the graphic. they are remaining the same size. maybe i misunderstood the change? ...jim
05/05-avnwx.info: Sorry for the downtime, took longer than I'd hoped. Lots of security-related patches. Feature-wise you now get
  • Topo maps as a View-Background choice,
  • Airport and Navaid icons now scale with view
  • Airport icons now look like Sectional Map icons, reflecting runway layout
  • Airport info display now matches Sectional info.
03/03-avnwx.info: Thanks! As long as the ads and subscriptions cover server costs, I'll keep this going. Feel free to check out the ads -- every click helps!
03/03-duckboy81: Just want to say thanks for what you do! I've been using your website for 10 years now and am still using it to this day. Nothing is easier in terms of making it easy to quickly determine my weather options. Thanks!
12/11-jimwmcvey: thank you for all your efforts. this is an excellent main tool now for all my travel planning..
12/11-avnwx.info: Yea, I'll figure out something better for the ads window, probably this weekend.
12/11-jimwmcvey: nicely done! would i be pressing my luck to ask for the same for the ads window too?
12/11-avnwx.info: View->View Feedback, will show/hide the Feedback box.
12/11-jimwmcvey: hi, the feedback box is now blocking most of the right side of my screen too. is there a setting change we can try to correct that?
12/10-flyvfr: The feedback Square almost blocks the entire screen on my Cell. What can I do?
12/10-avnwx.info: thanks -- I do listen (sometimes).
12/10-flyvfr: Great
11/28-mgiacomet: Any chance of moving the right banner somewhere else sothe map occupy the whole width of the browser? Perhaps move the feedback area to the top right, below the Login/Out and Help buttons. Maybe the feedback are could be moved to a pop-up and then use the top-right for ad. I realize the right banner is where you also put ads... any chance of having a paid version without ads (to allow the map to extend width-wise)? Thanks!
10/04-avnwx.info: @jim... no joy.
10/04-jimwmcvey: hi again... a couple of weeks ago i asked if possible to expand the weather loop to more than 45 mins. any luck with that (at no charge... LOL)? thanks, jim
10/04-avnwx.info: NEXRAD radar is 5 minute increments from "45 minutes ago" to most recent. You can see the countdown if you look at the Weather drop-down menu while it is being animated.
10/03-amosjacob.51194: Is it possible to get a time stamp for each time radar refreshes with a pause/play?
10/02-avnwx.info: SSL certificated updated this morning, Sorry about that. Loved all the texts, emails, and messages from you all!
10/02-mark.malinoski: @jim - brilliant after my comment.
10/02-jimwmcvey: hey all, looks like your security certificate expired yesterday. your site is getting flagged by my search engine...
10/02-mark.malinoski: FYI - Chrome is telling me that your SSL certificate expired yesterday. Thinks the site is unsecure. Thanks.
09/28-avnwx.info: Thank you, jim! We all benefit from website 'pireps' -- if something doesn't look right, let me know.
09/28-jimwmcvey: much better now! thanks you!... jim
09/28-avnwx.info: Good catch, jim: Yes, ADDS (NOAA) is "successfully" sending me data from two days ago. I don't know why, but I have contacted them -- one of their servers appears to be enjoying Wednesday's weather. EVERYONE: CHECK TIMESTAMPS on your data!
09/28-jimwmcvey: hi... is there an update problem? all airport conditions are over 90 mins old and being flagged...
09/24-mgiacomet: oh... missed that. Thanks!
09/21-avnwx.info: If you don't want converted times, set the selector to ZULU. Problem solved. Adding (GMT-08) isn't unreasonable, but it takes up a lot of space & that's why the selector is available.
09/21-mgiacomet: Well, if you know the time offset you know the timezone... Regardless, some indication (reminder) that's local (specially when it's in 24-hour format...) would be nice (perhaps "1700 (GMT-4)". Better yet, have an option to not convert times at all (just like you have for View/Show raw only). Thanks.
09/19-avnwx.info: mgiacome, If it has a Z it's GMT, otherwise it's whatever timezone your computer is (You can see in upper right above map). I don't actually know what TZ your computer runs, just the GMT offset.
09/19-mgiacomet: When displaying AIRMET (and any other information that contains timestamps), if you convert the time, please always include the timezone. Put a Z if it is GMT or (EDT, etc). Right now, mouse over an active AIRMET is showing valid till "1700" (no timezone indicated), but it's actually 21Z (1700EDT). Current implementation is confusing especially because you use H24 in the time format.
08/22-avnwx.info: Just to close the loop: NWS weather data seems to be fine now. As always, check timestamps on reported weather and compare data from multiple sources.
08/21-avnwx.info: Nation Weather Service reports, "ongoing network issue out of Washington". DATA IS MISSING. Please verify with your flight briefer.
08/02-mgiacomet: Perfect! Thanks!
08/01-avnwx.info: Good idea, mgiacomet. I've made regular zoom less aggressive. You can also Shift +/- to zoom more aggressively. Also, Shift-drag mouse will zoom to selected area. Enjoy!
08/01-mgiacomet: Any luck being able to have a finer zoom control (not so aggressive, neither too in or too out)? Thanks
07/23-cleekmaker00: Looks great! Awesome Resource for more than Aviation!
07/23-jimwmcvey: RE: mapscale move; looks good. thank you!
07/21-avnwx.info: I've moved map scale to upper right.. enjoy! (Plus some enhancements for those of you who use KML overlays.)
07/16-jimwmcvey: just a thought: if you are going to adjust the mapscale location, how about moving it up next to the map sizing values, + / - ? that leaves the entire bottom for the leaflet info.......jim
07/11-avnwx.info: Found the issue, robjrc. Try a new brief. Thanks for letting me know!
07/11-robjrc: The last few times I requested a full WX brief, it won’t load. This has never happened before. Any solutions ? THX
07/09-jimwmcvey: nice! i see what you mean about the flaky 'hybrid', but the 'street' is going to come in handy. thanks...
07/08-avnwx.info: I've added Street, and Hybrid map types -- Hybrid is flaky: sometimes it includes street names and borders, sometimes not. Hopefully the provider will fix that.
07/06-avnwx.info: Good catch on the map scale -- I'll see what I can do.
07/06-jimwmcvey: nice job! still as useful as ever, and maybe even alittle quicker to refresh. i dont use it much, but the mapscale is check in my parms but doesnt show on the screen, unless maybe its being overlayed by the 'leaflet' info. .FYI.. ... jim
07/05-avnwx.info: Map code has been completely replaced: Google priced their product out of my range. Everything appears to work fine, though background images are slightly different. Let me know if you see glitches still.
06/21-avnwx.info: power failure at our co-lo and hardware upgrade. That's complete. Within the next couple weeks we switch out of Google Maps before they charge us more than we earn!
06/16-s.sims525: I use this site all the time when I drill, it's so resourceful and helpful!
06/13-airstone21: Thanks, love the site!
06/12-avnwx.info: Truckee and Trinity aren't being reported by NOAA -- I don't know why. I'll start reporting them the instance they reappear in the feed.
06/12-airstone21: Hi there! Any fix for KTRK and O86 METARs to come back online?
04/05-gillmores: Suggestion - for the SUA, have you considered showing the actual scheduled active times (from sua.faa.gov) instead of (or in addition to?) the charted times you are showing now? I know I would find that helpful!
03/26-avnwx.info: NOAA reports significant failure of their Maryland servers and all aviationweather.gov servers are having issues. We'll be providing METAR, etc. as soon as NOAA returns to service.
02/21-darren.raleigh: Thanks for fixing it. Much obliged.
02/21-avnwx.info: Darren, you're correct. NOAA put yesterday's info into the feed. It appears to be updated correctly now. Good catch and a reminder to always check the date (We were "correctly" displaying as 2/20 data, though I understand that's not a huge help.) REMEMBER always use multiple sources!!
02/21-darren.raleigh: The computer says Rochester MN is clear, your website says it's overcast at 900. WTF?
02/21-darren.raleigh: KMCW should not be colored red according the the ASOS machine I just called. How many others are wrong?
01/31-avnwx.info: Thanks mgiacomet: I've updated the link so "previous 12 hours" works!
01/26-mgiacomet: Not a big deal, but when one clicks on the map (and the mouse rollover gets disabled), the link for "Show previous 12hrs METAR" is only showing the current. One has to then select the pulldown to get the 12 hours (looks like they may have changed the API on you...) Thanks!
01/11-avnwx.info: No problem with 64-bit Firefox, either. Anyone else having problems with Firefox on Windows?
01/11-avnwx.info: zapotal. I'm writing this on Windows 10 64-bit Home v1607, with Firefox 32-bit 57.0.4. I'll see if I can find a 64-bit Firefox. No problems for me on 32-bit Firefox.
01/10-zapotal: Yes. I do still have the same problem (loading issue)in Firefox not IE.
01/06-avnwx.info: I have Mac Firefox Quantum 57.0.4 loading without issue: Are you still having problems? (I'll recheck with a windows version at next opportunity.)
01/05-zapotal: https://maps.avnwx.com/ not loading on Firefox Quantum 57.0.3 (64 bit) Windows 10 Enterprise version 1607
01/05-avnwx.info: You're probably referring to the Area Forecasts. These have been discontinued by the weather service. Pity.
01/05-nrh: Has the extended forecast moved to a different location.
12/24-avnwx.info: My pleasure Todd. Happy flying everyone!
12/23-todd: Happy Holidays to everyone! Peter thank you for an amazing website.
12/16-avnwx.info: Special Use Airspaces now up-to-date.... Because of a data error, they'd been stuck in 2013, but we're now display current information. Let me know if you see anything wrong / confusing!
12/03-avnwx.info: Fixed, eduardom1989, check it out! Also, fixed the Firefox bug callahan_tom found. Thanks everyone!
12/02-eduardom1989: Thanks for the quick response!
12/02-avnwx.info: Super annoying, I agree eduardom1989. Google keeps changing their interface. I'll see what options are available...
12/02-eduardom1989: Do you think there could be an option to toggle on/off the Ctrl+scroll to zoom feature for the map?
12/02-avnwx.info: Thanks, Tom -- it was appeared to be a Firefox problem only (buttons didn't activate). Fixed now!
11/29-callahan_tom: I still can't update my ability to get notams. When I click on get it for a year nothing happens.
11/20-avnwx.info: Okay, raw winds aloft displaying correctly. Thanks mgiacomet! (You might need to refresh your browser.)
11/20-avnwx.info: Ah, I see -- when showing only raw Winds aloft, it's without newlines... I'll check.
11/20-avnwx.info: Recent Firefox 57 upgrade means I don't have a copy of 56 anymore. Not seeing this problem, though (and shouldn't: I'm using a table structure, not newlines). Anyone else?
11/20-mgiacomet: Winds aloft mouse hover over is showing all as one line (missing CR/LF to separate headings form data?) Using Firefox 56. Thanks!
11/09-avnwx.info: larry -- ADDS was down for a bit this morning, but all seems well now!
11/09-larryskydives: Metars are not updating
11/07-avnwx.info: Cloud overlay was data Google used to provide. They don't anymore, so I need a new source for that. Short answer, no cloud overlays.
11/07-jimwmcvey: hi again, has been awhile. will we be able to see the cloud overlay or is that a thing of the past? i remember seeing something about this months ago but dont remember what the answer was... thanks, jim
10/20-avnwx.info: Thanks, zapotal. Easier Login button is on the list.
10/20-zapotal: Can we get the login button more prominently placed on the main page?
10/20-zapotal: maps.avnwx.com uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is unknown. The server might not be sending the appropriate intermediate certificates. An additional root certificate may need to be imported. Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER Firefox browser.
10/13-avnwx.info: Thanks, malcolm... My trigonometry isn't up to figuring out now to draw the grey area around some flight paths -- it gets confused. Rest assured, I'm still display the weather within the correct area!
10/13-malcolm: Check out the weird drawing of the gray "weather within 50 miles" box for the route KBDR-KBDL-KHFD.
10/10-avnwx.info: Shouldn't be working like that, randyk... which OS, browser and version are you using?
10/10-randyk: I have wx items checked, but they don't come up unless I in-check and re-checke each time I load the map
10/10-avnwx.info: Menus fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience. Airport Details pages are correct, but will have minor functional issues to be corrected Thursday 12-Oct-2017. You probably won't even notice.
10/10-avnwx.info: Menus are broken (nothing happens. Working on a fix.
09/19-avnwx.info: Todd, what seems to be the problem. Everything looks good from here.
09/19-todd: Nothing seems to be working when you add your two airport points
09/14-avnwx.info: My mistake, Tom -- the auto-update didn't... Should be working now!
09/14-callahan_tom: Nor do the Metars or TafS
09/14-callahan_tom: What happened to all of the airports? The little ones don't show up.
07/17-avnwx.info: mark -- AFD's at FAA are good, but I missed an update. All better now!
07/17-mark.malinoski: Clicking the AFD icon on any airport (that I've tried) results in a 404 error. Did the FAA change the location of the AFD's?
07/08-avnwx.info: NOAA supplied that parse, but I think you're correct. They're reading the "AMENDS" bit, and seeing "Dust Storm". I'll let them know.
07/08-bill_earl: Your forecast for Quantico, VA says "Dust Storm". I think you have a parsing problem?
06/27-avnwx.info: budguy: I've see TFR on IE Edge, IE 11, IE10 and IE9. Which are you using & what TFR is missing? (there's always one around Disneyland)
06/27-budguy21: Not showing up on Internet Explorer
06/27-budguy21: TFR's not showing up, even though I have them selected.
06/26-avnwx.info: NOAA issued fixed: METAR / TAF are now visible world-wide.
06/25-avnwx.info: We appear to be missing METAR / TAF for many countries (France, Australia, for example). Doubt this is part of new US policy, so I've followed up with NOAA.
06/14-malcolm: Type in flight path KBDR-KMGJ-8B2, select weather within 25 NM of flight path, and have a look at the gray weather boundary that results!
04/16-eduardom1989: I really enjoy using you website, but the one I would like to see is the option to overlay the lightning strikes.
04/06-avnwx.info: Good idea, kinoav8r.
04/06-kinoav8r: The ability to adjust the opacity of the NEXRAD radar display would be a great feature. Thanks!
03/08-avnwx.info: On my list, mgiacomet. Google changed their API, dropping the feature, so I'd have to implement in "manually". Still a good idea. However, FAA is overhauling the NOTAM system & I'm busy on conference calls and prepping for that change over... might be a couple months before I can get to the slider.
03/08-mgiacomet: Any luck making the zoom slider show on the map, as in a regular Google map? (see my comment of 11/16). Thanks!
02/22-avnwx.info: There is an intermittent problem with METAR data from ADDS: you'll see this a METARs "disappearing" for a few minutes & then returning. I'm working with NOAA to investigate.
02/03-gillmores: So far, so good - everything is loading correctly again today. Thanks!
02/02-avnwx.info: Found IE11 bug! Looks like they changed their XML parser which caused browser to (sometimes) fail to read the Airport & METAR data. Fingers crossed, I think this will fix your recent problems. Let me know.
02/02-gillmores: I started having this problem, too, a couple of days ago (IE11). Had to delete cookies, and that fixed it, but only for a little while, then it comes back. In compat mode (IE7) it works fine all the time (with the warning about upgrading). Not sure what has changed...
01/23-budguy21: Nothing is showing up, airports, metars, airmets, tafs, nothing. Just the precip.
01/19-rdrfred: Oh its precip. Never mind.
01/19-rdrfred: So what are the blue and green squares on the sat map? Covering up something?
01/12-budguy21: never mind, it just started working
01/12-budguy21: Airports still now showing up. Yes, I have them checked.
01/09-avnwx.info: Okay, a couple internal changes regarding SSL certificates and generating the full weather brief. Please reload your browsers, give it a shot and let me know if it's working any better for you!
01/07-avnwx.info: Everyone, thanks for hanging in with this issue. It's especially frustrating because I've not yet been able to repeat this problem. In the meantime, if you request a brief and get the page load error, chances are the request was successful & you can view your brief by selecting Reports-> My Previous Reports.
01/07-budguy21: I have Airports selected, but it's not showing any airports. Everything else seems to be ok.
01/07-todd: the same thing keeps happening to me that I can no longer pull a weather briefing however Peter keeps telling me he's done nothing different on his site, it sure is funny that all of a sudden we're all experiencing the SAME THING. PLEASE FIX THIS.
12/27-mik: Click on Full Weather Brief yields "This Page Can't Be Displayed", using IE or Chrome.
12/18-cleekmaker00: Weird... when I tried to access the Site I got one of those 'Invalid Security Certificate' warnings. Changed the Bookmark (FF 50.0)and all is well!
12/07-avnwx.info: I see what you mean, Henry: I'll contact NOAA as I've verified I'm displaying correctly based on the coordinates they're providing.
12/07-henry: Several seem to be off position by several miles, e.g. LAX, TOA, EMT. Used to be much closer, certainly within a mile. I can email a screenshot if you like. Seeing same erroneous positions on a Windows PC on Firefox, Chrome and I.E.
12/07-avnwx.info: Henry- NOAA provides lat & lng of their weather services, which often does differ from the airports, sometimes they're the "old" location of the same airport, or they're at a corner of the property rather than directly over the runway. I show what they give me. (Sometimes they're a few hundred miles off, in which case we get that fixed.) LA Basin looks okay to me: is there something which looks particularly bad to you?
12/07-henry: A lot of weather icons seem to be displaced from the corresponding airport icons, e.g. in the L.A. basin but also elsewhere. Chrome 55.0.2883.75 on Debian Stretch
11/16-avnwx.info: Good idea, mgiacomet. I'll see if I can mimic Google Maps behavior (hover over +/- to popup the slider.)
11/16-mgiacomet: Any chance of making the zoom slider bar show? The + and - buttons either zoom too much or too little. I see the same behavior on Google Maps, but if I make it show the slider, then I can zoom to any amount I want. Thanks
11/07-avnwx.info: John, I notified NOAA and they've updated their database to correct the location for C07 Walton Peak (SSE of Steamboat Springs). Thanks for pointing out the error!
11/05-avnwx.info: Great info, John. Let me see why the info looks bad: Great having someone on location.
11/05-john: Sorry, I just noticed your reply. I found Walton Peak and it is about 115nm away from 10CO and nearly 6000 ft higher in elevation. It shows blue on avnwx while all the other nearby airports are green. It might be best to not display it since the info is incorrect.
11/01-avnwx.info: John, 10C0 isn't shown because it's private (should I include an option to also display all private airports?) You may use it as a location or in a flight paht and it'll work fine. The "KC07" you're seeing is the name of the METAR reporting station & NOAA + FAA are really slow to rename them. When they do, it'll automatically update here.
11/01-john: My home airport is Mack Mesa Airport, 10CO. It is shown on the map as KC07. Mack Mesa Airport was previously know as C07 but is now 10CO.
09/29-avnwx.info: For user who just asked "Need ATIS", know that ATIS is available via radio feed (which we don't do). There is no digital transcription that I know of, but if you do, let me know!
09/26-kinoav8r: It went out for me last night, but It's back now. Thanks.
09/26-avnwx.info: I'm getting NEXRAD fine, kinoav8r. Anyone still having problems?
09/26-kinoav8r: NEXRAD radar isn't working?
09/15-avnwx.info: geocoder updated, which also fixed winds aloft display. All should be working fine, now.
09/15-avnwx.info: Problem with geocoder -- some stations are missing. Update in progress.
09/08-avnwx.info: Tom, sounds like not all the code was loaded into your browser: Firefox should be working fine. I suggest force-reloading. Ctrl-Shift-R.
09/08-callahan_tom: Maps not working well on Firefox.Screens seem to be mixed and hover over airports does not give weather only name of airport. Works great on IE. This is my first stop service for weather planning. Thanks for the great work.
08/04-avnwx.info: Glad it's working better, now. Cloud cover was a data service Google provided for a few years & then stopped. I'll look for another (free) service.
08/04-jimwmcvey: nice job!. its back to normal and showing right away again. thank-you!! will we be seeing the cloud cover again anytime? this is a great tool. i use it almost every day!---jim
08/04-jimwmcvey: nice job!. its back to normal and showing right away again. thank-you!!
08/04-avnwx.info: I agree, Jim -- I'm going to bump up some resources and see if that removes some of those delays.
08/04-jimwmcvey: for me, it more than just sluggish. it is taking 45 secs or more to show. dont think this is normal...
08/04-avnwx.info: I'm seeing NEXRAD composites without problems, but sometimes initial access is sluggish.
08/04-jimwmcvey: hi all. not seeing the weather overlays. specifically, the NEXRAD composite. are they working today?...... jim
08/04-jimwmcvey: hi all. not seeing the weather overlays. are they working today?...... jim

07/20-avnwx.info: Emergency Maintenance Tonight July 20, 2016. Shouldn't take more than an hour, but the site will be fully unavailable. Very sorry for late notice, but I want to complete this prior to OSH flight planning!
